For this module, I read and utilized distinctive articles that elaborated on algorithms, their influences on our lives, and issues within algorithms that should be resolved. Each article provided essential information from the author about how algorithms have impacted them negatively and positively. A majority of the articles greatly elaborated on biased algorithms and why it’s important to find ways to reduce this issue. Because it’s an ongoing problem that is sought to be resolved, I shared information with my peers about algorithmic influence and how important ethics is in algorithmic data. The articles that I used were resourceful and informative.
I’m proud of how much I learned about algorithms. I’m also content about sharing what I learned with my peers. Before this module, I had a decent concept about algorithms. Now, I have a more in depth understanding about algorithms and algorithmic influence. One of the many things I learned during this module was about the components that algorithms consist of. I didn’t know much about black box algorithms or invisible fences before researching about it and reading articles that explained these important concepts. I also didn’t know about how many biases were embedded within algorithmic data and how it has a great impact on us. Overall, I obtained very important information that is very applicable to our society.
