- Throughout this creativity module, I had the opportunity to observe, learn, and acquire new knowledge about the topic that I chose to research on, which was digital accessibility. My objective for this module was to essentially learn more about what digital accessibility is, what it entails, and why it is imperative for our technology today. My other goal for this project was to educate my peers about what I learned during my creativity module by creating a video that thoroughly explains what digital accessibility is, providing background information on closed captioning, and by emphasizing the importance of making digital content universally accessible. By reading the module and working on a project that represents what digital accessibility is, I was able to obtain information about the importance of digital accessibility. To elaborate, I have a better understanding that digital accessibility is an observation of how accessible digital content is for everyone, such as those with hearing impairments/vision impairments. Enhancing digital technology so that people with hearing and vision impairments can be able to understand the content as optimally as possible is very important, since digital content contains an extensive amount of imperative information. Important enhancements, such as the creation of closed captions (which was ultimately the main target for my creativity module), made digital content more accessible for over 70 million people with hearing impairments.
- At the end of this creativity module, I hope to produce an informative video about digital accessibility and a PowerPoint presentation that goes into detail about the history of closed captioning, which is a prominent example of digital accessibility. In addition, I aim to successfully educate my peers on the importance of digital accessibility by having these two objectives as my end products.
